Eagle E-Type No.4 – A huge specification Eagle with fabulous history

Commissioned from us as one of our bespoke full Eagle restorations in 1995, this car was delivered in 1997 as just the fourth Eagle E-type of only 36 built to date.
The owner, who has cherished No.4 for these last two decades, wasted no time in putting the E-Type to good use and embarked upon a tour of France within days of it being completed. A second of what would become many French tours followed in ‘98.
In 1999 Eagle No.4 took on the role of a press car for Eagle and appeared in no fewer than four magazines, being the cover car and main feature for Octane magazine, and was the star of Top Gear. In host Quentin Wilson’s glowing feature, he described the car as “outrageously quick and utterly faultless. I’ve just spent a day driving it and I’m seriously smitten. It is the best E-Type I’ve driven and it’s still the most beautiful car in the world.”
’99 also saw the start of Eagle No.4’s main vocation as a fast road rally car with an entry into the MSA Euroclassic; a tour through the heart of Europe, incorporating sessions on historic alpine hill climbs and world-famous grand prix circuits. Eagle No.4 would be come a veteran of these events, participating again in 2000 and 2001.
In 2001 we utilised the stunning looking Eagle No.4 for an advertising campaign, the photo from which we still use today in our brochures such is the quality of the image and its evocative effect!
Arguably the peak of No.4’s adventures was the opportunity to run ahead of the Classic Adelaide rally in 2002, as part of the high speed parade on the rally’s full closed-road course. It was entered as part of Eagle’s three-car team joining the E-Types of our CEO Henry Pearman and former Jaguar works driver Win Percy.

For 15 years, right up until last year and in amongst the professionally organised rallies, No.4 also took part in privately organised tours of the United Kingdom and continental Europe.
While always driven enthusiastically, Eagle No.4 has never been raced hard and has always been rigorously maintained under truly conscientious custodianship. So, as you can see from the images, Eagle No.4 is still in fabulous condition and presents like a car that has been recently restored.
No.4 then is perhaps the perfect endorsement for what we do here at Eagle. A car restored without compromise and enjoyed to the full, now awaiting just its second owner in 20 years.
Completed to near-full SuperSport specification No.4 is an undeniably capable E-Type, as the last two decades have proven, and it would cost in excess of £450,000 (+VAT if applicable) to identically commission the next Eagle E-Type to this same level. And, with commissions firmly in place for the next half dozen Eagle E-Types, No.4 offers the opportunity to beat the queues and enjoy this great value, well proven and arguably our most famous Eagle E-Type.
