  • Known to us from 1986 as one of our early restorations, this 3.8 litre Roadster has since undergone a significant program of Eagle Engineered upgrading and has been immaculately kept.

While Eagle E-Type No.1 set the template for our bespoke, commissioned restorations in 1994, Eagle was already an established E-Type specialist with a full decade behind it at that point. The car you’re looking at was an important stepping-stone towards Eagle No.1 and the legacy it has spawned, as one of the cars we restored during our first 10 years in business.

We began the restoration of this 1964 3.8-litre Roadster over the course of 1986 to 1988, but a change in the owner’s personal circumstances left him unable to carry on with the project. The car remained unfinished into the 1990s, but in 1997 we were able to complete the restoration for a new owner. At this time we performed a full repaint in our own formula and more vibrant red, which was elegantly paired with biscuit coloured upholstery for the interior.

Two years and with only 508 post-restoration miles covered the Roadster returned to Eagle where we supplied it to a new owner, who was keen to experience the best that Eagle could offer. A full program of Eagle Sport specification upgrading was carried out to include a higher performance engine rebuild, a 5-speed gearbox and our custom suspension geometry among a whole host of extras. Please scroll down for the full specification list. At this time we also performed a conversion to LHD, a very straightforward process on an E-Type that requires zero metalwork ‘surgery’, as the owner was relocating to beautiful British Columbia and would be taking the E-Type with him.

After 5 years and covering 900 miles in Canada, the E-Type returned to Eagle HQ where its outstanding specification and still fresh condition meant it quickly found a new and long-term home in 2004. With this current owner ever since, we routinely looked after the E-Type until 2008 before it crossed the Atlantic once again as work life took the family to New York. A busy lifestyle preserved this E-Type for those cherished special drives.

In an effort to make more time to drive the car, the owner shipped the E-Type back to us in 2019 for a comprehensive service and to take advantage of some of our latest upgrades too. Sadly, with the owner now busier than ever, he’s made the difficult decision to sell the E-Type after 16 years.

Now back here with us in the UK, and having covered just 4,054 miles since our full Sport-spec rebuild (so only 4,562 since our restoration was completed in 1997), this gorgeous Roadster is ready for a new family – just in time to start celebrating the E-Type’s 60th Anniversary.

A rare original UK RHD Roadster, one of 943 such examples built, we could very easily convert it back to right-hand drive for the next owner.
